I had to break out the score to The Scout after seeing that the film was on television. It is a silly film with a fantastic score by Bill Conti. The "World Series" cue is something that I keep on repeat.

The start of a Bruce Broughton day. A recent ad on tv had the marvelous theme to Silverado...

I heard that ad too, but it did you think it sounded like the original recording? I only heard it once so far, but it sounded like the brass was having issues. I'm waiting to catch it again if it airs.

I'm listening to some of the music from Tati's PLAYTIME. Fun score.

LP long a favorite. Found the Decca CD yesterday for $2.00.

From 1986 thru 2004 I worked in various positions with music retail. During that time I had seen many "acts" come and go. One hit wonders... massive flops... and strong albums by talented people. With the events of this past week... and the funeral of Whitney Houston on Saturday, I took half of the day and listened to some of my favorite albums/songs by her. Though she may be gone, her music remains with us. A sad day.

***

Continuing with the somber mood today... the following scores were listened to...

CAREFUL, HE MIGHT HEAR YOU
Ray Cook

E.T.
John Williams

WARHORSE
John Williams

THE WINDS OF WAR
Bob Cobert

WAR AND REMEMBRANCE
Bob Cobert

DANCES WITH WOLVES
John Barry

UNTIL SEPTEMBER
John Barry

UNTAMED HEART
Cliff Eidelman

Today I listened to the following (while working, via speakers and NOT headphones)

- THE GETAWAY (Jerry Fieldings unused score. turned it of after a while. not the right music to do work)

- THUNDERBALL (Barry), nice

- REMO WILLIMAS (Safan. getting better and better.....)

- THE LAST STARFIGHTER (Safan. Good, but I still like REMO better....)

- LE PROFESSIONNEL (Morricone. Very listenable, also for "normal" people

- THE SPECIALIST (Barry) very nice score (crap film)

Franz Waxman - TARAS BULBA (1962) | My first encounter with this Oscar-nominated classic. Great stuff, great Tadlow 2CD!
