Going through about 1000 books I have in storage I found a story in one I knew I read years ago pre-internet on one of those cold solitary nights when screwballs like me felt more isolated in our interests and beliefs...

Anyway, it's about Italian film composer Piero Piccioni arrested and charged with involvement in the murder of a woman whose body was found on some beach near Milan. The accusation proved false and was made by a woman who seemed to have some personal grudge against the guy.

I love Piero Piccioni music, glad to hear he wasn't the Italian Ted Bundy afterall.

In the past I've posted on a couple different film score websites asking if anyone knew of this story, no one responded and I have found no reference to it on the internet. Anyone here interested in reading the story? I'll gladly post it just as soon as I find the motivation to snap some digital images of the pages from the book which is an anthology of notorious crimes back in day.

The recent FSM release of the soundtracks to Kenner and More Than a Miracle brought my attention towards Piccioni's compositions. In searching his background, I did see some articles about the murder charge brought against him and supposedly other high society types. One of the more interesting aspects is that Piccioni's alibi was being at the home of Carlo Ponti with Alida Valli, whom he was very close friends with at the time.

Read the story years ago pre-internet in a book on infamous crimes. Was aware of composer Piccioni at the time but remained uncertain if the person in the story was one and the same as there was no mention of his film scoring work. Googled it a few years ago and located nothing, I see it's now mentioned in his obit. Must have been a bad time for the guy. I have a bit of a personal understanding of the anxiety, stress and anger of such a situation. I became the target of some serious accusations awhile back at the hands of a corrupt homicide detective. This forum is not the place to go into details, just thought I'd mention it. Unconventional people sometimes make easy targets.

At least he was able to continue on with his career since then. False accusations are easy to make, yet can ruin the victim for life.

I can think of a couple other things. A composer, whom I don't recall the name of, was arrest and jailed, as I recall, on rape charges.


Then there was Jack Nitsche who was on an episode of "COPS" waving a gun around. I recently found out about what, but totally forgot.



Then there's Tyler Bates who still remains at large for "300" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still".
