Hey Freejack,
That was Felix (Peter as last name) that sold you the "Revenge" LP, wasn't it? That's too funny, because as I recall you posted your query over at the Soundtrackcollector forum at the time, right?
Felix is one of my best and longest friends here in Bern, Switzerland and when I saw your add back then i immediately thought of Felix, as I knew he had the LP and I admired the LP cover a lot back in the days...
So i pointed him to your post and it seems both of you ended up happy
I also paid a lot of money for some stuff that's been out of print. Hell, that's what happens to collectors... But basically, I don't shell out that much cash for a CD - but for vinyl, that's a different story. If you want something *really* bad, you won't regret it. After some months, the hole in the wallet is stuffed again but the record/CD is stll there
But of course, everything has its limits. With the extreme inflation over at eBay in the past decade or so, collector's prices have gone into extremes.
If I really "need" something and have been looking for it for years, I might be willing to pay between 100 or 200 bucks for it (but that's rare - it would have to be a real "heartstopper" for me). But these days, the things I am still after won't go for hundreds but for *thousands* of bucks, and that is just plain ridiculous. I wouldn't pay and play in this league even if i earned ten times what I earn now. It's completely out of proportion these days, I think.
Best,
Burnie
