I just bought a bunch of CDs from Intrada, including three recent David Newman albums: Malone, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, and Throw Momma from the Train.
The first thing I did was rip all the CDs into iTunes, which, surprisingly, was able to locate cover artwork for all three titles. Usually I have to scan the covers myself or find some decent artwork online.
I noticed the cover artwork was different. It's not as nice as Intrada's. They all say "MGM Music" in the upper right-hand corner. I checked the iTunes Store and found all three albums for $9.99 each. Amazon has them, too, for only $7.99 each! They were released in June 2008.
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and Throw Momma from the Train appear to be identical in terms of content. They have the same number of tracks and the same track titles. Malone has three fewer tracks.
I'm glad I have the Intrada albums (lossless audio quality, better cover artwork, expert liner notes) but the price difference is staggering. I could have saved $35!
Does anybody know if these digital downloads contain Intrada's editing and mastering work?
(I'm sure Doug and Roger hate me for pointing this out)
