I did post this here once, but didn’t really go into it too much. Misery was Marc Shaiman’s first major score, and is nothing short of great! Rather then traditional horror score cliches, it takes itself in a more beautiful and eerie direction. There was a cd release for Misery, which luckily did contain a good chunk of music from the film. It was however, mostly suites instead of individual tracks (with the exception of “open house” and “go to your room”). That and a few important cues where omitted. With all of this said, I think it would make a great addition to intrada’s ever growing collection. Hopefully someday Misery makes it onto their list.
Here’s a rough track listing of the music that’s heard in the film. 1: Paul Sheldon 2: Number One Fan 3: Compound Fracture 4: Paul Gets A Shave 5: Soup / Profanity Bothers Annie 6: I love You Paul 7: Buster 8: A Clue 9: Buster Turns Back 10: Paul The Poet 11: Winter Day / Meet “Misery” 12: Annie Laments 13: Dirty Birdy 14: Paul Tries To Escape 15: Annie’s Idea 16: Lighting The Match 17: The Ozone 18: Misery’s Return 19: Hair Clip 20: Unappreciative Paul 22: Open House 22: Go To Your Room 23: Snowy Transition 24: Oh Paul 25: Annie’s Got The Blues 26: Kitchen Knife 27: Memory Lane 28: Paul Waits 29: The Needle 30: Buster Clues In 31: Arriving At The House 32: Annie’s Bluff 33: Investigating 34: Buster’s Last Stand 35: The Plan 36: Annie’s Final Chapter 37: Dinner Vision
