Post subject:  Identification Help

Greetings, I am a new member here and am hoping that someone on the boards will be able to help me with a quest. Lionel Newman, who worked for 20th Century Fox in the 1950's used a piece of music in more than one of his scores that I am trying to identify and purchase, if possible. It is most easily heard in the dining room scene onboard ship in the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes when Lorelie and Dorothy are coming in to dinner. It is the walts being played by the ship's band. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Can you find a clip on YouTube of the moment in question?

Well, I got antsy and found a moment resembling what you described:

Music starts at 2:50 and the 2 gals enter at about 3:00.

I'm clueless as to the name of the piece, assuming this is right place in the movie.

That sounds like the Tchaikovsky ballet, with some notes transposed up/down octaves.

Definitely not Tchaikovsky, but I really do appreciate everyone's interest. After all these years, I'm certainly not in any hurry and would love it if everyone just let's the music ramble around in the backs of their heads. Someone might come up with it. I know eventually the soundtrack to this film will be released. In the meantime, I will continue to hope......

Two notes sound like Sleeping Beauty....but it's far from it otherwise.

It DOES sound familiar, but I can't place it.
