John Barry wrote a fantastic score for the film "The Betsy". Any chance this score can get a release? I'd say it's worth it.

It's an outstanding score. (Even after almost 30 years, I still remember the music for the tour of the car factory, almost as amazing as Barry's music for the climax of THE TAMARIND SEED.) But who owns the rights to it? Outside the U.S. the movie was released by United Artists, so does this mean that MGM may own it? I strongly suspect the master tapes may have gone missing, otherwise it seems inconceivable that the score wouldn't have been released much sooner.
Hope this isn't the case, but at least there's a short re-recorded suite on Silva's WALKABOUT album.

One can only hope the masters still survive. I own the Walkabout album with the suite from "The Betsy", it's nice but I just hope a full album can one day be released of the entire score.

Dreams do come true, even if we don't get the original tapes. I'm sure James Fitzpatrick and Nic Raine will do a splendid job with their new recording. Now if only we could get the complete MARY,QUEEN OF SCOTS (composed during one of Barry's most extraordinary periods).

I have copy of this on order. I'm glad it's finally released, even if it isn't the original.
