I've always liked this low-key, stylized, resourceful exercise in suspense and horror from Amicus Films, Hammer's rival during the golden age of British horror films. After watching it today for the first time in years, I appreciate it all the more. It's an even better film than I thought it was. The level of craftsmanship and storytelling is extremely high. Sound effects are noteworthy. The cast has fun with it, and I enjoy their enjoyment.

A vital contributor to the success of the film is the unorthodox organ and percussion score by Michael Dress, about whom I know absolutely nothing. Did he compose any other scores. To the best of my knowledge, this score has never been on LP or CD. I think it would hold up well apart from the film. Intrada might want to look into the possibility of releasing this horror score.

I watched THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD at the theater when I was a child.
I don't remember the music by Mr. Dress, but the film scared me to death
