I've been meaning to post my thoughts here since the thread began but simply hadn't got around to it.

I'm in the camp that wants to have a "Complete" release but in the form most listenable. i.e. create an album presentation (if there isn't a composer version available) and provide the rest of the material as bonus material (again if possible in some form of listenability).

For me it really isn't important that the music is in chronological order, unless it works as telling a story. Some albums I find both versions quite listenable (for instance with Return of the Jedi I found all versions an enjoyable experience: the original LP sequence. the Arista version and then the later BMG release) and others are simply a slog to finish in C&C format (The Fugitive springs to mind).

The most important thing, particularly where releases cost more than newer score releases is that as much of the material as possible is available. Often I will hear something in the movie that really catches me, get the CD and be severely disappointed that it isn't there at all or indeed have a similar but quite different music (Williams with his concert arrangements). With these Limited Editions, it might be the only time the score is released in this form so its important to get it out there.

I generally don't buy newer scores now, its rare for me to hear something that I like (a few exceptions with Williams, Giacchino) or that engages me and when I do I end up narked at the label for leaving off an important track. (Captain America March oh so leaps into my mind here - What were they thinking.)
