INTRADA Announces Dimitri Tiomkin's THE WAR WAGON

Ok, so I got this today....and something very weird happened.
I put this in my CD drive (DVD burner), and it just kept spinning and spinning, not actually reading the CD. So I couldn't play on that.
Put it in the other one (BR drive), and it worked. The score is great, but I'm very concerned about the disc. Did ANYONE else have any strange issues with it?

I haven't had any problems with "War Wagon", but after swapping out my computer's "SuperDrive" (under warranty) a couple weeks ago, the new (well, new-ish...) drive couldn't read a handful of otherwise unrelated CDs that the original drive had no problem with. This isn't bothersome enough to spur me to action, but when I mentioned it to an acquaintance who knows more about such things than I do, he recommended that when it got to be too much to bear, I should get a dirt cheap, third party CD/DVD drive for the oddball discs. Said it would probably be a much less headache inducing way to deal with it than pestering the labels for replacement CDs that don't work any better or swapping out the computer's drive over and over.

I would assume your DVD-Rom drive is the problem. I had this problem with various cheap CD-Rom and DVD-Rom drives in the past and now I play all my CDs on a hifi component. There's no better way to have the best output sound and no reading issues.

Right. You can't rip music onto an iPod with hifi equipment, though, can you?

I'm working with a netbook without a CD/DVD drive right now so I don't know. What I do know, The War Wagon IMO is one of the best recordings of film music released in recent memory. Love the title song sung by Ed Ames.

Well oddly enough, it worked fine on my second time. I guess it IS my drive...

Playing this one again right now. Tasty-sounding, Tiomkiny, western awesomeness!!

This might be my favorite Tiomkin release. "Alamo" has a lotta years of accumulated affection behind it, but "War Wagon" is SO much fun to listen to. Anyone sitting on the fence about this one is a sillyhead.

This one was such a long awaited release (43 Years!), and to have it arrive in such wonderfully pristine sound was one of last years' key soundtrack events. Of course getting TOBRUK and, especially, my own personal grails, ON THE THRESHOLD OF SPACE and THE HUNTERS weren't chopped liver!

This Tiomkin remains an incredibly fun listen and I just had a fine time syncing a couple of the unused cues up to the DVD of the film. As someone has stated in the past, this just has to be the best sounding Tiomkin original soundtrack extant.
(And, this is not to diminish Mr. Fitzpatrick's stunning achievement with his historic rerecord of THE ALAMO.)

It is great. Love the scores from the 1960's, especially when produced by the guys at Intrada.

Wish we could get the score to Chisum by Dominic Frontiere. Another of my favorite Duke film scores from that period.
