Have you guys even seen the movie???
Let's not forget that the original motion picture scores is written to fit
a certain scene for the purpose to enhance the feeling the director
wants you to have as a viewer.
It's not written for the purpose to be on a CD and in the stereo.
Thats why we have Brittany Spears and Modern Talking among others.
Why does alot of people have BACK TO THE FUTURE, TOP GUN,
THE DARK KNIGHT among others as there holy grails?
Easy, they love the movie and have seen it time after time again.
Ofcourse some times the music is better than the movie,
one such case for me is WIND AND THE LION.
A friend showed me the Main Title and i thought this movie I gotta see.
I loved John Milius Conan and this also seemed to be a great epic adventure movie.
I can't tell you how dissapointed i was by this dull movie, and what a
waste the Main Title sequence was.
Just a shot of a wall and the credits going by in yellow colors if I remember correctly.
Stiff.
But in Conan, Poledouris Main Theme is presented with a creation of a sword.
Now thats class.
I threw the Wind And The Lion DVD to the wolves.
But I will cherrish the Intrada CD forever.
In my opinion, the music is often better when you've seen the movie
before you preview the score.
