| Post subject: | Wonder Woman 1984 - Where Have I Heard This Before? |
I would first like to say that Wonder Woman 1984 is a brilliant score in every way. It's been a long while since I have heard a Zimmer score with this level of melodic and harmonic complexity. An incredible delight for the ears. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if his theme as fully fleshed-out in the cue "Themyscira" has been in another one of his early scores, almost note-for-note? It sounds so familiar, but I can't place it. |

A couple of his scores have used this theme in variations, recently as 180bpm on Inferno (da Vinci code sequel) but the first place it turned up was on a mini series back in the late 80’s called first born. I don’t think the cue has had an official release.. however it did turn up on a Zimmer promo called Follow your Dreams. The score was produced prior to his entry into Hollywood whilst (I think I’m correct) during his time with Stanley Myers. Hope that helps |

That's it! I knew it was an obscure early work, but couldn't for the life of me remember. Thanks, Scorevoice. There's a YouTube video of it. It is not as much of a replica as I had remembered it. Memory can be a tricky thing. And you're right about "160 BPM," which I completely forgot. |

Glad I could help, I love WW84 as it has lots of themes and sounds like Zimmer has returned to his earlier style. Particularly like the 1984 very quirky and reminiscent of 80’s pop scores with orchestra. All the best and happy new year. |

I feel like Zimmer is rather fond of the 7/8 time signature. I noticed it in the Green Goblin tracks in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I don't remember if it ever showed up in any of the Pirates films... |
