| Post subject: | Who Should Score RoboCop Returns? |
I really hate this type of thread with a passion, so here is one of those threads. RoboCop Returns will supposedly be a direct sequel to the original film, making it a little easier for us to forget the non-musical side of RoboCop 2 and 3. Assuming the tone is kept the same, I can think of three active composers fully capable of keeping the original film series' rich musical legacy alive. 1.) Alan Silvestri 2.) Alan Silvestri 3.) If it's a direct sequel, then it should contain the original theme composed by Basil Poledouris. Only Michael Giacchino is now able to pay hommage to such a legend as Poledouris and be fresh with a new symphonic score. |

How about a former Poledouris protege like Eric Colvin? (Granted, the chances of him scoring it are slim to none, but the question was "who should") Yavar |

While this thread was made partially in jest, it is interesting to see numerous other mentions of Bear McCreary in a similar FSM thread made shortly after this one. I guess it's mostly because of how perfectly he treated the Terminator legacy in his Sarah Connor Chronicles scores. To me, Bear remains the most interesting composer of the more recent crop. He's well-learned in traditional symphonic composition, but he also delivers exciting new sounds. |

Why not Bear McCreary in Dark Void mode ! But I'm afraid big studios won't trust a TV composer like him. |

James Newton Howard. But I wouldn't be surprised if Hans gets the call, Will most likely end up being (Chappie 2.0) Either way nothing can take away what Basil done with the original (his will still be the best Robocop score) |

I am looking forward to Henry Jackman's score for The Predator. I think he and Shane Black are a great meld of the senses, both providing inspired work when allowed to fully deliver their own vision. |

How about throwing a bone to an older quality composer? Maybe Bill Conti or Bruce Broughton. |
