I just picked up a book titled "The Greatest Movie Car Chases of All Time," by Jesse Crosse and have been blown over by it's compelling and unique details of hollywoods greatest chases and hot pursuits. For film buffs and car enthusiasts it's not to be missed, as it provides the reader with an outstanding and profusely illustrated history of each featured chase, as well as a superb understanding of where how it was created. One of the books finer chapters is that it concludes with a countdown of what may definitively be the greatest ten car chases ever to make the big screen. On this final note, it has got me to thinking about all the great scores that have also been set to the scenes of pavement blackened by Pirelli tires, broken glass and the roar of high octane engines as they blast over the streets and hills of San Francisco or the winding passages of the South of France. There are so many and could we ever keep that list down to only 10 great cues? That's tough. I have my favorites, which I'll list soon, but I wanted to hear from the masses first. Go for it and "Yee-haw!" - Oz |

If you really want to learn about the art of action, why not just pick up legendary film editor Sam O'Steen's book, actually titled "Cut to the Chase"? Most car chases – particularly the great ones – are all about editing anyway! |
