Divisive stuff as you'd expect. Personally, I was surprised at how much I loved this score. That main theme is simply gorgeous. You'll believe a Zimmer can fly! http://www.avforums.com/movies/Man-of-S ... track.html Cheers, Chris McEneany |

This is by far one the worst thing YOR has ever listened on his entire life. |

I know it is, Yor. And, believe me, I totally expected that I would feel as hostile towards it as you do. But it didn't turn out that way. I've openly scorned Zimmer many times in the past, and I'm pretty certain I will have cause to in the future (well, you'll know that already ... being as Yor from there) but, for now, I'm quite happy with this. Went out with friends to have dinner and then catch Man of Steel on Friday night. I love Superman to death and couldn't wait to see it. Now please don't lynch me for saying this -- but I could barely sit through the movie. It's a headache-inducing, visually bombastic nightmare of a film, completely devoid of joy from start to finish, that browbeats its audience with violence and explosions on such a massive scale that the filmmakers should be brought up on assault charges. The story was moronic in terms of characterization and plot. The clunky dialogue was dead on arrival. The final half hour was simply a long, interminable fistfight. I was devastated at just how bad it was. As far as the score is concerned, Hans Zimmer has always struck me as the Yanni (Yiannis Hryssomallis) of film music composition. Both are incredibly popular, and everything they compose sounds like a constant, aimless droning. But in this movie, even I didn't anticipate the shattering wall of noise that left me nearly deaf after two and a half hours. |

Wall of noise. You resumed in 3 words almost everything Zimmer produced. |

I'll stick with my Superman DVD box set & John Williams score. |

One word to describe this score : noisy. Where is the more symphonic and romantic Zimmer ? |
