This just came to me. Apologies if this has been discussed.

Speed 2

Terrible film, but another thrilling and highly engaging score by Mark Mancina.

I can think of numerous examples of very good film scores for rather poor pictures, but I cannot think of a single vice versa example. Probably because, if a movie is bad, the music of the score itself may be great and enjoyed apart from the movie. However, if a film score is "bad", it's connected to the movie... I cannot watch the movie "apart" from the score, and music wins against picture when it comes to mood.
(There are a few examples, where one may watch a movie with two different scores, like LEGEND or GETAWAY, but that's a different story I guess.)

Perhaps a better question would be, can a great score help a bad or mediocre film be more enjoyable? Here is an example. While watching "Superman Returns," I couldn't help but wonder how much more I might be enjoying it had it been scored by John Williams.

HAWK THE SLAYER

possibly the worst film in history ( a very guilty pleasure coz' I love it!) but it has a truly awesome score by Harry Robertson.

Would love to have this score one day.

There's actually talk of a sequel!

While okay on its own, I find that Edelman's score to "Ghostbusters II" is barely, and often not servicable to the film. It's also completely unengaging, unlike Bernstein's score, and I can't remember a lick of Randy's effort, unlike Elmer's which I can hum several cues from.

It was also weak in orchestration.

I wish Elmer had changed his mind. I understand he didn't want to score anymore comedies, but surely he could have made one last shot for the sequel. At the very least they should have considered his son, Peter Bernstein.

A rather umimpressive, though "okay" dirty comedy called "Screwed" had an aweful and completely unservicable score by Michel Colombier. George Fenton would have been a far better choice, even Marvin Hamlisch.

I'm in a minority -- I don't like Horner's "Krull". Basil Poledouris would have probably done wonders.
