In quick fashion, I need to buy fireworks before they sell out...  Agora (Dario Marianelli) Alice in Wonderland (Danny Elfman) The Chronicles of Narnia - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (David Arnold) How to Train Your Dragon (John Powell) The Last Airbender (James Newton Howard) Hmmm...a quite "fantastic" line-up! The Karate Kid (James Horner) Powerful and moving, great themes, gorgeous orchestrations. The last of the great ones is still on the top of the world. Tangled (Alan Menken) He returns for an old fashioned princess story and doesn't disappoint with, as usual, catchy melodies, romance, and rousing score for the adventure ! And for the first time celtic music... How to Train Your Dragon (John Powell) John Powell goes celtic as well, and gives us a big orchestral adventure score with exciting flying sequences. Charlie St Cloud (Rolfe Kent) Rolfe Kent is not far behind Horner for delivering the emotion this year and just like Horner, he manages to alternate emotionalism and epic cues beautifully. Alice in Wonderland (Danny Elfman) Once again, Danny Elfman has found A sound that perfectly embodies the characters and captures the ambiance of the classic story. Now Alice has her theme. PS : Percy Jackson, Tron and Predators were solid efforts as well. |
