Among my favorites: A River runs through It and Of Mice and Men, two beautiful Americana flavored efforts. The Browning version and The Public Eye are also very nice. And his jazz scores are also quite infectious : The Moderns, Little Man Tate, and Mrs. Parker and the Vicious circle. Full of toe-tapping melodies. I don't care too much for his more contemporary, suspense scores. He is indeed underrated. He's been around for more than twenty years. And Black Dahlia was high on my list of 2006's five greatest scores. Why he wasn't nominated for an Academy Award is just boo-boo. |

Miracle - A tremendous sports score for a dud Disney film. Highly exhilerating in parts! TJ |

October Sky is my favorite Isham score, in-film. It made me cry. On album it's a bit of a mess, though, all out of order and interspersed with period songs which are admittedly fun but which disrupt the flow. Yavar |

I agree Yavar, I think Joe Johnston was very impressive on this dramatic movie, he really made a moving film and inspired Isham for very moving melodies as well... |

Miracle - when i said "dud" i meant flop - it disappeared at the box office. The film itself is in my dvd collection, though partly because of the music. Indeed the final game- the visuals married with the music - is amazing. The film was very well made with a standout Kurt Russell performance (and also from his toupee!) and thrilling ice hockey scenes. The sad part was that the true character he played - Herb Brooks - died shortly before the film was completed in real life. He never got to see it. TJ |
