Giving 44 Inch Chest by Angelo Badalamenti and 100 Suns another spin.

Watched the film on Netflix awhile back. Gangster learns his wife is cheating with a waiter, he and his four accomplices kidnap the guy and hold him captive while deciding the best way to kill him. John Hurt's telling of the story of Samson And Delilah is hilarious.

Received my "Barry"-package yesterday and I am listening to

- THE WRONG BOX
John Barry

- THE QUILLER MEMORANDUM
John Barry

Has anybody seen THE WRONG BOX? Is it any good? It sure sounds like a good and fun story. Has a great cast (and score ;-)

+ of course BATTLESTAR GALCTICA VOL3. The first track is on repeat. Very nice release!

Phil

Ennio Morricone - 4 MOSCHE DI VELLUTO GRIGIO (1971) | The 10 track Cinevox Digipak release. Styles abound in this groovy-spooky soundtrack - unique and yet exemplary for the Roman maestro (at least during this period).

Bernard Herrmann - NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) | Finally it's in my hands. And ears. And eyes ... man, this package is an absolut treat! I love the whole artwork job (these sketches!) and looking forward to reading Frank K. DeWald's liner notes. Thanks, Team Intrada, for giving this soundtrack your special finish!

In anticipation of the Red Pony by Goldsmith I'm listening to the 1949 version (Varèse LP) from Aaron Copland. After that comes the "Red Pony Suite".

Jerry Goldsmith/Morton Stevens - MASADA (1981) | I hate to admit it. First time listening [devoutly btw :P] to this double treasure although it's been in my collection for quite a while.

SKYFALL by Thomas Newman

Way better than I thought after seeing the Film (which is very good btw). It fits the film perfectly but I thought, as an separate listening experience it might sound to much like wham-bang-generic blockbuster music. The film got me quite absorbed and I could not "listen" to the music too much ;-)

Too bad only one track has Adeles Skyfall melody incorporated ("Komodo Dragon"). And the song itself is not included on the Score/Soundtrack CD (like it was the case with "Casino Royale").

How about that Die Hard 2 expansion from Varese? Much improved recording quality over the first film was obviously expected given the prior disc, but this release really does sound spectacular. It's great to hear the main themes written for the first film brought under such a flattering light and flowing with other cues the way they ought to be.

There is not a single dull moment, and it is all so entertaining that I might forgive La-La Land if they do not deliver us Die Hard with a Vengeance this year. Although I know that they obviously aim to please me and only me.

Ennio Morricone - QUEIMADA (1969) | If I'd be allowed to take only 10 Morricone scores to an island, this would probably be in. I adore his 60s/70s output.

Last night I listened to the FSM release of Alex North's The Shoes of the Fisherman. I bought this 2-disc set for the re-recording of Goodwin's Where Eagles Dare, but the North score ended up being the real treat here and is a grand aural powerhouse.

I just love being surprised by such great music that I've never heard before.
