I don't consider synth to be a reaso not hate a score. I consider poorly handled synth, or very bad sounding synth, or a crumily done synth score, to be a reason. I very much enjoyed the samples. Ordered. Part of one of hte samples was vaguely reminiscent of one of the cues from his rejected score to the 1992 boxing movie "Gladiator" (is this one possibly, Roger???). |

This is from when Goldsmith was using a substantial orchestra (80 odd pieces in the Hungarian Opera Orchestra, his fave at the time - pop quiz, can you name the other 5 scores he did around the same time with this band, without cheating? Three were (initially) released by Intrada!), and a heavy mix of synths. While the scores sounds very 'synthy' the orchestra is there, and I can't wait to hear a more even mix of the two ala' Silva's RAMBO 2. If you have any nostalgia for that lost era, and Goldsmith turning garbage into moderate art, you'll love this - I envy you guys that are discovering this, since it really made my day when I did! |

With all the ridiculous commentary going on about this score, it would be interesting to know how well it's selling. |
