The main title to "Desiree" is a magnificent waltz written and conducted by Alfred Newman. You can find a one-minute sampling here: http://www.varesesarabande.com/details. ... 2D1036%2D2 |

From a filmus-l discussion of waltzes in 1996, then-member J.A. "Tony" Carty wrote: "An absolute beauty, a gem, a treasure (is it Steiner's best?) is Starwood from Band of Angels. "Also, worthy of note are two Natasha's Waltzes: Fifty-five days at Peking (Tiomkin) War and Peace (Rota) "Is Paris Burning (Jarre) is waltz-like. "Slow and languorous and beautiful, perhaps too slow, to be considered a waltz, but lovely nevertheless is The Black Stallion (Coppola)." |

Gee whiz, you guys missed what is IMO just about the best one.... Chris Young's THE VCA WALTZ from Flowers in the Attic. Damn near perfection, that piece, not to mention perfectly positioned on the album. |
