ARCHIVAL according to Webster means... Pertaining to archives or records; contained in records. MV's usage of the word is most likely inspired by other labels using terms like... SPECIAL COLLECTION SIGNATURE EDITION LIMITED EDITION EXCALIBUR SERIES THE DELUXE EDITION etc. Also, Warner Bros. has re-issued several albums under the WARNER ARCHIVES moniker, which includes RHINO's (2000) 2CD issue of SUPERMAN. Anyone who believes that archival is a negative term could be defined by Webster as a... MORON The highest classification of mental deficiency, above imbecile and idiot. ![]() |

AGain, as pointed out FSM called "The Satan Bug" archival because of it's nature, and traders of unreleased scores sometimes refer to certain ones as "archival". I agree with Roger. And when dealign with such a small niche market, it's best not to start confusing the word -- especially among picky customers who have to have a replacement disc if there is a small barely noticable error for a brief milli second in one track. And what's more their announcement doesn't not specify the source for the music, only their reply in the FSM thread, so some customers might be left scratching their head if they've purchased "arhival" stuff from FSM or Kritzerland. Doesn't matter what is really what here, you just avoid the term to play it safe rather than arguement about it or have to put up an unecessary correction to the listing on their site. |

Maybe we're all just having SOUNDTRACK LIBRARY flashblacks - remember when those things came out, the first CDR boots sold for $30-ish, all marked as archival recordings, and they all sucked....except they offered good music like that super-raw ALIEN tape, Reincarnation of Peter Proud (still MIA to this day ![]() |
