Well Roger did make clear in his first post that just because something won this poll, didn't mean it's what Intrada would tackle next. That said, even though a twofer, the Goldsmith would probably have lower costs than something like second place The Jungle Book. Each score is only around half an hour long, the orchestras are relatively small with no expensive choir, and neither score would have to be reconstructed because full written scores survive in the Academy Herrick library for both! In fact the Academy has a brand new website where you can search their holdings and find out how many pages of score they have for each thing in their collection. Here is Face of a Fugitive: http://collections.new.oscars.org/Detai ... e/71302957 And here is Black Patch: http://collections.new.oscars.org/Detai ... e/71302938 I will have to update the invented cue titles in my "Advance Liner Notes" series to reflect the correct original cue titles! I would like to add Dark Intruder by Lalo Schifrin. Perhaps as interesting a horror score for its time as Searle's The Haunting. The score was later used for an episode of Night Gallery. Another work ripe for a new recording is John Scott's score for the 1972 film Doomwatch. |

Now that Intrada's first Kickstarter funded Excalibur recording, Dial M for Murder, has been released to success and critical acclaim last month, it seemed fitting to bump this fine thread up the board for 2020. ![]() I wonder if Roger might be willing to hint at the prospects for a future Excalibur recording, and what sort of splash this poll of his may have had around the Intrada offices... You will NEVER go wrong with a Jerry Goldsmith score. Either artistically, or financially! |

Unless Mancini wrote more than he recorded for Frenzy, I’d rather simply have a release of the original recording (part of which can be heard on the bonus features section of the physical release of the film). I think a Goodwin/Mancini Frenzy twofer is one of my biggest non-Goldsmith holy grails at this point, but there’s no reason the original tapes shouldn’t survive in the Universal vaults for those. I realize not much can be done about this considering how uncertain everything is at this point, but have there been any updates on what the next re-recording will be, if this can continue, which I hope it does? |
