It was sad to learn of the passing of yet another dear composer of film and tv, this time Billy Goldenberg. He died on Monday at the age of 84. He was quite possibly known most notably for having composed the score for Steven Spielberg’s first movie, the highly successful thriller, Duel, which first appeared on television in 1971 and then moved to theaters due its success. Our own relationship with him was limited but did, in fact, include producing the world premiere release of his soundtrack to that very same celebrated NBCUniversal action thriller. His output for television was prolific and his music propelled all manner of tv episodes in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. He now joins that ever-growing fraternity of talented composers who brought complex, emotional, intelligent music to the entertainment art form, a group from which the remaining talent pool grows sadly smaller each year. Rest In Peace, Billy Goldenberg.
