A release of David Shire's entire score to 2010:The Year We Make Contact would be great. It is a great electronic score that makes great use of Craig Huxley's blaster beam, used in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

I own the original A&M CD but it only contains part of the score. Would love to own the entire score.

I too would love to see this released in complete fashion one day. David Shire really turned in an arresting score to Peter Hyams' 2010 film.

I just watched this movie again and I want to make another plea for a complete release of David Shire's powerful score.

It is somewhat worthwhile to note that David Shire himself is not at all fond of his experiences making this score. He does not like the manipulation done during editing, including Hyams using only partial mixes, and was not all that happy with being limited to doing an electronic score. The album is apparently the only representation of the score that he can even stand.

I only mention this because Shire's opinion is usually given weight when labels work on albums of his scores.

Anyway, a reissue has no doubt been looked into given many soundtrack consumers' love for all things sci-fi.

I'd buy this in a heartbeat! The existing CD is available on the Amazon marketplace for as low as $25 but I know as soon as I pull the trigger, a new album will be announced.

(And no, I'm not buying it just to test that hypothesis!)

I am sorry to hear the David Shire didn't like his experience. I hope this doesn't discourage the release of his magnificent score. I think his score contributed largely to the film.
