I don't own a copy of the Varese Sarabande CD club release, a quick look at the track listing I notice much of the score isn't included on the disc. Bought a 16mm tech print of the film in 1986 and always wondered if perhaps Jerry Goldsmith scored some scenes. Would love to see a complete detailed release of this score. The 1959 United Artist LP I do own and remember being disappointed on first listen that my favorite scoring from the film wasn't included. The bathtub scene (Jerry Goldsmith?), when the townspeople force the Robert Mitchum character to take a bath as well as the music heard as the lonely desperado talks to his beloved horse. A great Joseph Pevney film. |

It was 1959--Jerry Goldsmith probably had not even met Alex North yet (and THE WONDERFUL COUNTRY was a great ROBERT PARRISH film.) I think you'd find all of the missing tracks you crave for on the Varese disk, along with the story of the missing and mis-named tracks on the original LP |

"I know The Wonderful Country like the inside of my own nose." LOL--now that's a ripe metaphor, and, in that case, you must ![]() (I know--". . . don't call me Shirley.") |
